The Center for U.S. Global Engagement, the educational arm of the U.S. Global Leadership Campaign, unites business, humanitarian, faith-based, community and military leaders around the country to broaden our understanding of America’s interests in building a better, safer world. The Center works to educate and inspire support among the public, opinion leaders and policymakers for increasing American assistance abroad and strengthening our leadership in international affairs.

Impact ’08 is the Center’s new national campaign focused on inspiring presidential candidates to incorporate greater use of development and diplomacy as the keystone of America’s engagement with the world.

The interconnected global challenges and opportunities facing America in the 21st century call for smart power -- the strategic use of development, diplomacy and defense. Through the Impact ’08 presidential initiative, the Center’s unique, diverse network of leaders and foreign policy experts will be working to reshape U.S. foreign policy by elevating diplomacy and development programs as a priority for the next Administration’s foreign policy and national security strategy. America cannot rely on the military alone for national security. Making greater and more effective use of our development and diplomatic tools will advance global health, economic prosperity and international cooperation while restoring America’s global image and moral leadership.
